Daisy Edgar-Jones and Ruth Wilson among stars in new Almeida season

Anya Reiss, Carrie Cracknell, Roy Williams and Simon Stone also join the line-up

Daisy Edgar-Jones, Ruth Wilson, Carrie Cracknell, Roy Williams, Simon Stone and Anya Reiss are among the theatremakers announced as part of the Almeida’s new season.

Shows will be live-streamed as part of the theatre’s ongoing commitment to digital work

Edgar-Jones and Wilson will star in Stone’s adaptation of Lorca’s Yerma, which runs from May 12 to June 17. Cracknell directs Williams’ new play Sing Yer Heart Out for the Lads, which runs from February 4 to March 11.

Reiss will present her first full-length play for the Almeida, The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas, which runs from July 7 to August 12.

Other highlights of the season include:

  • The world premiere of debbie tucker green’s new play, which will be directed by Ola Ince (dates to be announced)
  • Clint Dyer’s new adaptation of Schiller’s Mary Stuart, directed by Rebecca Frecknall (September 2 to October 21)
  • A new musical based on Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, which will be directed by Nicholas Hytner (October 28 to January 13)
  • The return of the Almeida season livestreams in partnership with Marquee TV. Livestreamed performances will include The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas and debbie tucker green’s new play

The Almeida’s artistic director, Rupert Goold, said: “In a time of huge change, we need the theatre more than ever. I’m so excited to be sharing this season, full of compelling new plays and artists. It’s been a tough time for our industry but we’re determined to come back stronger than ever. We’re committed to making the theatre accessible for everyone, which is why we’re continuing our commitment to digital work through our livestreams.

Tickets for the new season go on sale on 11 January at 12pm.
